Healthy Diet – Key To Successful Treatment For Kidney Disease

You may need to change your diet and your respective eating habits to manage your chronic kidney disease (CKD). While seeking treatment for kidney disease, ask your dietitian to develop a meal plan that includes foods that you enjoy eating but at the same time, they do not cause any adverse effect on your kidneys.

Choose & Prepare Foods with Less Salt & Sodium – This is because such foods help you control your blood pressure. Each day in your diet you should consume less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium.

• Always buy fresh foods. Many packaged foods that you buy at the supermarkets or at restaurants contain sodium.

• Cook foods from scratch instead of eating prepared foods, “fast” foods, frozen dinners, and canned foods for they have higher sodium content.

• When you prepare the food on your own, you keep a check over the ingredients and vegetables and other things.

• In place of salt, try to use spices, herbs, and sodium-free seasonings. Check for sodium on the Nutrition Facts label of food packages.

• In case of frozen dinners and other convenience foods, select those foods that have lower-sodium versions. Thoroughly rinse canned vegetables, beans, meats, and fish with water before eating.

Eat the Right Quantity and Right Type of Proteins – This is to protect your kidneys from disease. When your body uses protein, it produces waste. Kidneys help in removal of this waste. If you happen to eat more protein, your kidneys will have to work all the harder.

• Eat small portion of protein-based foods

• Protein is found in foods from plants and animals. Most people eat both types of plant and animal-based protein

Choose Foods & Drinks with Less Phosphorous – A check on phosphorous will help in the protection of bones and blood vessels. When the person suffers from CKD, phosphorus gets build up in the blood. Too much phosphorus in your blood pulls calcium from your bones, making your bones thin, weak, and more likely to break. On the other hand, high level of phosphorous in your blood can cause itchy skin, and bone and joint pain.

• Many packaged foods contain a remarkable amount of phosphorus

• Deli meats and some fresh meat and poultry can have added phosphorus

Choose Foods With Right Amount of Potassium – This is because it will help your nerves and muscles to work the right way. When the blood potassium level is either too low or high, it can lead to problems. Damaged kidneys allow potassium to build up in your blood, which can result in serious heart problems. Always select food and drinks that lower the potassium level.

• Salt substitutes can be very high in potassium

• Rinse and drain canned fruits and vegetables before eating

Diet and nutrition play a very vital role in well-being of those suffering from kidney disease. As your kidney disease progresses, your dietary needs are likely to undergo change as well. The main purpose of the diet is to maintain the levels of electrolytes, minerals, and fluid in your body when you’re seeking treatment for kidney disease or when you are on dialysis.

The decision is taken on the basis of your symptoms, other health-related issues, your stage of kidney disease and your nutritional health. Although this decision might seem to be stressful, yet it is recommended to learn thoroughly about the option you would go for.

In this process, the blood is pumped to a dialysis machine through soft tubes where it undergoes sterilization or cleaning through a special filter called a dialyzer. Once the blood is filtered, it is returned again to your bloodstream.

Peritoneal Dialysis – In this process, the blood is cleaned inside your body and not outside. The lining of your abdomen acts as a natural filter. A cleansing solution is made to flow into your abdomen through a soft tube called a PD Catheter. Wastes and extra fluid pass from your blood into the cleansing solution. This is a home-based treatment and can be done anywhere.

Renal Cyst – Go For Herbal Remedies for Kidney Problems

Unlike kidney stones which are solid stone like forms, kidney cysts are fluid-filled pouches that develop on the surface of the kidneys. Kidney cyst is generally non-cancerous and harmless, while some of them are associated with kidney disorders which can lead to complications. They can also develop inside the kidney. When these cysts become large, symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, fever or an ache in your side or back can also take place.

Herbal Remedies for Kidney Problems

Generally, you don’t have to worry too much about kidney cysts unless they begin to irritate you. There is no remedy for kidney cysts. However, herbal treatment can help with the kidney function that may be impacted with the cysts.

Herbal Treatment – Kundan Kidney Care Centre provides herbal remedies for kidney problem. The herbs used in the kidney supplements are carefully chosen and have known safety profiles. Keep Your Body Hydrated – Drinking sufficient water is highly recommended to those suffering from renal cyst. Water allows your kidneys to perform their job correctly. It is recommended that you drink four liters of water per day. This amount of water will lead to about 1.5 liters of urine which can flush toxins out of the body. You can consider drinking cranberry juice too as it helps with a wide variety of kidney and urinary issues.

Eat Ample of Fruits & Vegetables – The nutritionists always prescribe diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables. These foods not only have a good fiber content but they also supply the essential vitamins and minerals. Experts recommend eating about four to five cups of fruits and vegetables. However, juice never counts towards your fruit quota because it lacks fiber. Also, leafy vegetables, such as lettuce, should be included in your diet.

Keep a Check on Protein Consumption – At the same time, it is also suggested to maintain a healthy balance of protein in your daily diet. When the body has sufficient amount of protein it enables the kidneys to do extra works. Therefore, including one to one and a half cups of protein in your diet. But make sure it is lean protein so that you do not end up gaining excessive fats.

Stop Smoking – Smoking, fumes from household chemicals and cleaners, and overuse of medicines create extra toxins in the body. This means extra work for your kidneys. Increasing the level of stress on kidneys means the cysts will increase in size. Therefore, always avoid those elements which make the matters worse and lead a healthy and blissful life.

These are some of the best suitable ways to reduce the cysts through its natural processes. Also, the herbal remedies for kidney problems provided by Kundan Kidney Care Centre are all safe and natural. The supplements are all free from steroids and metals. How Does Dye Given During CT Scan Harm Kidneys? How to Minimize the Damage

There are certain diagnostic tests such as MRI, CT Scan, and angiograms that are routinely prescribed by the doctors as they provide important information about the diseases and injuries. This further helps in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. In many cases, contrast dye is used. These dyes can either lead to kidney problems or cause problems in patients with kidney disease. The two serious disorders associated with contrast dyes are nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) and contrast induced nephropathy (CIN).

Treatment For Kidney Disease
If you are suffering from kidney disease and the contrast dye has started showing its effect, adopt herbal treatment. Kundan Kidney Care Centre’s carefully crafted herbal treatment for kidney disease has been successful in treating and even regenerating diseased kidneys, without affecting the level of potassium and other vital minerals in the body. Before we delve further into the treatment of kidney diseases, check out what are the symptoms of CIN and NSF:

Contrast-Induced Nephropathy (CIN) – The rare disorder is caused by the use of certain contrast dyes. Although there have been no reported problems in the maximum of the cases where contrast dyes have been used to conduct the tests. About 2 percent of people receiving dyes can develop CIN. There are increased chances of CIN amongst people suffering from diabetes, a history of heart and blood diseases, and chronic kidney disease (CKD). The risk of CIN in people with both CKD and diabetes is 20 to 50 percent.

• Symptoms – More tired, poor appetite, swelling in the feet and ankles, puffiness around the eyes, or dry and itchy skin.

• Ultimate Result – In some cases, CIN can lead to more serious kidney problems and possible heart and blood vessel problems.

Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF) – Although rare yet a serious disease which affects the skin and other organs. It is usually found in patients suffering from advanced CKD. People with acute kidney injury (AKI) are also at higher risk. The disease can develop within 24 hours up to around 3 months. To enhance the images obtained during MRI, contrast dyes are used. These dyes contain an element called gadolinium. The kidneys of the people suffering from CKD are not able to filter out wastes the way they should normally do.

Symptoms – Burning and itching of the skin, red or dark patches on the skin, joint stiffness, or muscle weakness.
Ultimate Result – NSF can be painful, debilitating, or even fatal.

Can NSF and CIN Can Be Treated?

Although there are no proven treatments for NSF and CIN. Most NSF and CIN patients with normal kidney function have found their kidney function to normalize within a week. However, contrast nephropathy and nephrogenic fibrosis can worsen kidney function if you have pre-existing kidney disease or chronic kidney disease. When it comes to your health, prevention is better than cure. There are benefits of undergoing MRI, CT Scan, and angiograms for proper diagnosis and treatment, but the benefits thus obtained must outweigh the risks associated with the use of contrast dye in such tests.

Recommended Tests To Detect Kidney Damage and Function Abnormalities

Healthy kidneys are responsible for removing waste and excess of fluid from the blood. The two tests that show how well the kidneys are functioning and how quickly body wastes are being removed are blood and urine tests. Urine tests also help in detecting whether or not the kidneys are leaking abnormal amounts of protein. If so, it is a sign of kidney damage.
Undergoing a kidney transplant should not always be the goal for all patients suffering from kidney damage. Instead, one should look for reliable Ayurvedic treatment for kidney damage or failure, which actually yields good results in treating and even regenerating diseased kidneys.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Kidney Failure

Below is enlisted a quick guide of the tests to measure kidney function:

RECOMMENDED BLOOD TESTS

Serum Creatinine – From the normal wear and tear of muscles, your body generates a waste product known as creatinine. The level of creatinine in the blood differs from person to person on the basis of age, race and body size. Normal creatinine clearance for healthy women is 88-128 mL/min and 97-137 mL/min in males. If creatinine clearance is greater than this, then it is an early sign that kidneys are not functioning properly. As kidney disease progresses, the level of creatinine in the blood rises.

Glomerular Filtration Rate(GFR) – This test measures how well the kidneys are removing excess fluid and wastes from the blood. Normal GFR varies as per the age of the person. But, the normal value of GFR is 90 mL/min/1.73 m2 and above. A GFR below 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 is a sign that the kidneys are not working properly. If in case the GFR goes below 15 mL/min/1.73 m2, one is at a high risk of kidney failure, and thus treatment such as dialysis or a kidney transplant becomes vital.

RECOMMENDED IMAGING TESTS

Ultrasound – The sound waves used in such type of tests help in detecting the exact picture of the kidneys. The sound waves then detect abnormalities in size or position of the kidneys, if any. It is also helpful in detecting the obstructions such as stones or tumors in the kidney.

CT Scan – In CT Scan imaging, X-rays are used to know the whereabouts of your kidneys. The test also helps you know structural abnormalities and the presence of obstructions. In such type of tests, intravenous contrast dye is used which can be of concern for those with kidney disease.

RECOMMENDED URINE TESTS
Urine tests help you know how much urine kidneys can produce, an accurate measurement of how well your kidney is working and how much protein is being leaked from the kidneys all day. The recommended urine tests include Urinalysis, Urine Protein, Microalbuminuria, and Creatinine Clearance.

Kidneys are very vital part of human body. If any of the tests mentioned above gives you a positive report of kidney damage or failure, then consider herbal treatment by consulting kidney specialist at Kundan Kidney Care Centre. Our Ayurvedic treatment for kidney damage or failure can help you avoid dialysis or kidney transplant. Our natural herbal treatment can help you reverse kidney disease and improve kidney function.

Hyperkalemia – High Potassium and Kidney Disease

What is meant by Hyperkalemia?

Hyperkalemia is a medical problem which is popularly known as “high potassium” in your blood. The body requires potassium – an important nutrient found in many foods that we eat on a regular basis. Potassium helps nerves and muscles, including our heart to work in the right manner. However, high potassium level in the blood can be dangerous and it can be the leading cause of many dreadful diseases. It can even cause serious heart problems too.

Alternative Kidney Disease Medicine

The leading cause of hyperkalemia is advanced kidney disease. If you’re suffering from kidney disease, you are at the risk of developing hyperkalemia. With herbal treatment, you can reverse kidney disease and reduce the risk of developing hyperkalemia. Kundan Kidney Care Centre’s carefully crafted alternative kidney disease medicines have good success rate in treating and even regenerating diseased kidneys, without affecting the level of potassium and other vital minerals in the body.

WHAT ARE THE LEADING CAUSES OF HYPERKALEMIA?

• KIDNEY DISEASE – If your kidneys do not function properly, then you’re at a higher risk for hyperkalemia. It is the function of your kidneys to balance the amount of potassium taken in through the foods you eat and the liquids you drink with the amount lost in urine. In the early stages of kidney disease, the kidneys can often remove high potassium. But as the kidney function gets worse, they may not be able to remove enough potassium from your body.

• A DIET RICH IN POTASSIUM – When people, suffering from advanced kidney disease, eat too much of foods that have the high levels of potassium, then it can also cause hyperkalemia. Foods such as cantaloupe, honeydew melon, orange juice, and bananas are high in potassium.

• DRUGS THAT PREVENT LOSS OF POTASSIUM – There are some drugs that decrease blood flow to the kidneys and prevent the kidneys from excreting normal amounts of potassium. This may also cause your blood potassium levels to rise.

• OTHER CAUSES OF HYPERKALEMIA: Addison’s Disease, alcoholism, destruction of red blood cells due to injury, type 1 diabetes, and use of potassium supplements may lead to hyperkalemia.

SYMPTOMS OF HYPERKALEMIA

The symptoms of mild hyperkalemia are very few and non-specific. The sufferer might feel some muscle weakness, numbness, nausea, tingling, and other unusual feelings. The symptoms develop slowly over a span of weeks or months, and are often mild and recurring.

Although hyperkalemia never pops up suddenly, if in case you have very high levels of potassium, you may feel heart palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, or vomiting. Sudden or severe hyperkalemia can be life threatening too. Thus, such condition requires immediate medical care.

NORMAL LEVEL OF POTASSIUM IN BLOOD – The normal level of potassium in your blood should be between 3.5 and 5.0 millimoles per liter (mmol/L).

CHOOSE THE RIGHT TREATMENT FOR HYPERKALEMIA

It is important for CKD patients get their potassium level tested and determine further on the basis of reports whether or not they need to follow a low-potassium diet. If CKD patients have high potassium level, then they should follow a low-potassium diet. Avoid taking salt substitutes, which are high in potassium.

Treatment of hyperkalemia is often directed at the underlying cause. If you have symptoms of hyperkalemia, consult with our doctor immediately. Talk to our doctor about what your blood test results mean. If you have mild to moderate kidney disease or CKD, then opt for alternative kidney disease medicine to improve your kidney function and decrease the chances of developing hyperkalemia. In either case, with prompt intervention, hyperkalemia can be treated.
